Liverpool legend: Mohamed Salah is not in a good state of mind to take penalties new(2023)
Liverpool FC legend John Aldridge believes winger and current top scorer Mohamed Salah missed a penalty against Arsenal in the 30th round of the Premier League.Mohamed Salah missed a second-half penalty in Liverpool's 2-2 draw at Anfield last Sunday. Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo Network column: "Mohamed Salah has missed 4 of his last 9 penalties against Liverpool and also missed a crucial penalty against Egypt in a World Cup qualifier (against Senegal) , in my conversation with some of my former players missed I could imagine what he would do with every kick he tried to send him for a corner against Arsenal but he didn't have the full confidence to do it
"I've taken the penalty in big games for Liverpool and I once asked Jan Mulby to take them for me because I wasn't in good mental shape.
"But Mohamed Salah is not in the mood to take penalties. I think he should ask another player to do them until next season if he feels he can do them."
"Because he will remember this football for a long time, especially since we are far away from the golden square and the Champions League, unfortunately we can only play in the Europa League at most."
"If there is a penalty shootout, I think Mo should give others the chance to sign them, but I don't think there's an important game like Arsenal for the rest of the season."
